Uniqueness is
Empowerment

We observe Nature to embody Her wisdom about how we can live with this beautiful planet. Everything is cyclical and everything changes, therefore, so do we. “Dis-ease” and/or pain arise when we resist the natural urge to shift and change. If stagnation becomes the norm, movement stops, and then, so does life - think of the blood in your veins. Constant movement connects us to the feeling of aliveness; currents flow within us simultaneously as we externally navigate the currents in our lives.

We are as unique as snowflakes! We have a responsibility to learn about our uniqueness. Our Body is complex and has an infinite Intelligence unique to You. We all have some differences from our Nervous and Digestive systems to our different blood types and genetics passed down from our parents. There is no cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all remedy when observing life in this way. Uniqueness is a sacred gift.

What is Nia?

Movement and Uniqueness

Nia, Neuromuscular Integrative Action, or ‘Now I am…(fill in the blank)’ was founded by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Aya Rosas in 1983. Today, Nia  headquarters is located in Portland, Oregon but it is taught in over 40 countries around the world. It is a dynamic movement practice done in bare feet, drawing from nine movement forms, and accompanied by soul-stirring,  diverse music. The nine movement  forms create an encompassing style of exercise that includes grounded steps, stances, kicks, punches, and free-form moves that stimulate your muscles, mind, emotions and spirit.

Each class invites you to move in patterns based on the anatomical design of THE HUMAN body; you are encouraged to find the most pleasurable version of these moves for YOUR BODY’S way, based on your uniqueness. The nine movement forms of Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Jazz, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique and Yoga infuse the Nia class experience with a wide variety of ‘flavours’ designed to  release the issues from your tissues and embrace your “REAL.”

Nia draws on dance arts, martial arts and healing arts to help improve flexibility, agility, mobility, stability and strength. Additionally, this holistic approach engages your whole being, leaving you feeling energized, mentally purified, emotionally balanced and completely rejuvenated after every workout. Southampton Eco-living creates an all-inclusive atmosphere that is welcoming for people of any age or fitness level to enjoy great music and exercise that is beneficial to our body, mind, emotions and spirit.
